Once a year, thousands of Floridians stand at the state line and toss dead fish into Alabama. It's the annual Mullet Toss hosted by Flora-Bama Beach Bar in Pensacola. It's just just " a silly excuse for a huge beach party."They do this for a good cause, for every fish tossed, a contribution will go to Local Youth Charities, including a local school program run by the Community Drug & Alcohol Council, Inc., which has community outreach programs that address drug, alcohol and tobacco use and abuse by teens as well as mental health issues and problems with violence that they face. Every year, mullet tossers raise more than $20,000 for this and other local charities, many of which are focused on youth.
