French Fries Day!

Writer: SulphurSpringsMuseumSulphurSpringsMuseum

French Fries Day originally began as a marketing initiative to promote French fries but has evolved into a genuine holiday celebrated with indulgence in fries.

Traditionally observed on July 13th, recent efforts by Checkers and Rally, known for their popular fries, have led a petition to the National Day Calendar to move the celebration to the Friday of the second week of July each year.

In 2024, this falls on July 12th. The history of French fries is believed to originate from American soldiers in Belgium during World War I, who named them "French Fries" despite their Belgian origins due to the predominant French language spoken in Belgium at that time.
